      Description

Just spotted that thinBackup seems to ignore the 'Max number of backup' setting.
The number of backups just increases, because of this the zip archives are never created.

Reverting back to 1.5.0 and all is working again, 1.6.0 and above are all effected by this issue.

we have a jenkins user setup - it is not a permission problem - if i rename/remove the user then all works ok.
The problem user name is 'Øyvind Harboe' - the Ø is encoded as U+00D8 (0xC3 0x98)- changing/removing this to O and again all is ok.

for info jenkins is run through the default winstone container.

okay, can you tell me which encoding your system is using.
Please try to look into your jenkins_home, there will be a thinbackup.xml. Please check if the encoding of the backuppath is correct in this file.

we are using en_GB.UTF-8 locale, encoding for thinbackup.xml is set to UTF-8

Just checked the jenkins system properties and java has file.encoding set to ANSI_X3.4-1968, changing to utf-8 fixes the problem.
Thanks for your help on this, not sure why the encoding was set to that value.

          Hello Thomas,

I've been having this issue since some days. I hope you can help.

When I check in the system information page, the file.encoding is ANSI_X3.4-1968. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and all the codes are in UTF-8.

I tried changing the system locale to UTF-8(|LANG / LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8), exporting -Dfile.jnu.encoding=UTF-8 to JAVA_OPTS, adding it in the .bashrc but I am still unable to change the file encoding to UTF-8 from ANSI_X3.4-1968.
Can you please help me with this.

          Thanks in advance,
