      Description

      I have a job which checks out of CVS and build. I want to add a parameter of type "CVS symbolic name parameter".

      The problem comes when I launch the job, and it shows the parameters page. Here the drop down list has a single item saying "Could not load symbolic names - File name too long".

      I can't find any explanation about what file it is talking about.

          Hi, thanks a lot for the very fast response. I have installed the plugin snapshot. I do not get the error anymore.
          However, the drop down list shows only "Head". However I know this project has tags. I can see them if I do

          cvs log -h|awk -F"[.:]" '/^\t/&&$(NF-1)==0{print $1}'|sort -u

          Is it that I didn't understand the purpose of the plugin ? or could it be that I misconfigured it ?

          I was expecting to see the same as with the svn plugin, i.e. a list of all available tags so that I can later check out one of them.

          Edit : this seems to confirm my understanding : JENKINS-9311

          I reopen the bug because the cvs symbolic name parameter list is still not what I expect, see my comment

          Thanks for the comments. Can you confirm what version of CVS server you're running? The latest snapshot of the CVS plugin returns the expected list of branches and tags for me.

          It's also worth checking the Jenkins console or logs to see if there's any further information in there: since no job has started at this point there's nowhere to display information.

          Thanks,
          Michael

          Ok, I got it working. It was a problem in the way we use CVS (shared folder accessible to only certain users).

          Thank you for all your help

          "I'm probably going to perform a release of the CVS plugin at the end of the month"

          Any update regarding this release ?

          thanks a lot
