We have configured our slaves to "Take this slave on-line when in demand and off-line when idle".

When a slave goes offline, the slave page ($Jenkins_URL/computer/$slavename/) reports "Ping response time is too long or timed out."

This is misleading. Instead, something like "This slave is offline because of the idle timeout." (or maybe nothing at all) should be displayed.
