We renewed jenkins certificate after expiration.

We followed http://dineshvr.blogspot.com/2017/05/configure-jenkins-to-run-on-ssl-port.html

After jenkins "safeRestart" service hanged and we had to force server reboot.

After reboot Jenkins service (automatic) would not start but manually and the Jenkins site was not accessible.

We had to revert to original Jenkins.xml to reach the site but only with http://jenkins.net:8080.

How can we bring service to original state or have it operate under https with new cert.
