UI not refreshing between pipeline steps

I have more and more UI refresh issues on my BlueOcean pipelines.

When I start a pipeline sometimes it doesn't refresh the page so I have to refresh it manually to see the new build.

In my pipelines there are lots of user prompts where they have to choose options from select lists or enter some text in free text area.

The UI does not refresh between the steps so once a user picked a choice and clicked submit, the page does not advance to the next step automatically. We have to refresh manually with F5 to see the next step.

It's very annoying, at the beginning it was really rare but now it occurs almost every time and it's the same thing for everybody (so not a PC issue) whether we are using Chrome or Firefox.

There are no errors in the browser console and only one warning in the Jenkins logs but it does not occur at the same time so it seems unrelated:

      Jul 19, 2019 8:25:55 AM org.jenkinsci.plugins.workflow.support.steps.input.InputAction loadExecutions
WARNING: no flow execution found for my_pipeline/master #5

I tried to update both Jenkins and all add on (including BlueOcean) to the latest version but it broke my pipeline and just shows : "this stage has no step" with the console output bellow it (it does not even show the choices anymore, just the output of the pipeline logs and then "waiting for user prompt" in the console but without the UI).

I saw that tickets referring to this bug were closed one or two years ago but it was always due to a bugfix that corrected the issue or to a proxy config and i'm not running Jenkins behind a proxy.

I don't know what to test. Any idea?
