      Description

      Hi,

I have been experiencing an authorization problem in my pipeline since yesterday, there was no problem before.

I defined personnel access credentials for my private GitHub repository. When I chose the credential on the dropdown menu I see the following message

Failed to connect to repository : Command "git ls-remote -h -- https://github.com/account/repoName.git HEAD" returned status code 128:
      stdout:
stderr: warning: invalid credential line: get
      remote: Invalid username or password.
      fatal: Authentication failed for 'https://github.com/account/repoName.git/'

I also defined account credentials(user name and password) for the private repository but I get the same result. The credentials I describe is absolutely correct, I achieve success when I use access commands such as clone in pipeline script.

I googled it and reads many issues but don't found any solutions work for me. There must be some things I'm missing.

I'm creating this issue before reinstalling Jenkins because doing this seems very unprofessional to me.

I would be glad if you could help.

      Thanks

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/35336678/git-credential-fill-rejects-my-input-scheduled-on-windows hints that a credential manager might have been enabled on the local account that is trying to perform the git ls-remote. I'm not clear from the log segment that you provided if that is running on an agent or on the master.

Requests for help are much more likely to be seen and assisted if they are asked on the chat systems or the mailing lists. Many more people read those lists than read the Jenkins issue tracker.

I'm closing this because it is most likely a configuration issue that is best handled through chat or email rather than through a bug report.
