Fresh Jenkins 2.150.1 installation immediately gives access error 404 in browser

      Disclaimer
      The issue seems to be linked to my specific type of system, but I have no good idea about why it occurs or how I should resolve it.

      I am not expecting someone to fix this right away, it just would be great if someone could give me a nudge in the correct troubleshooting direction.

      If I have used the incorrect channel, then feel free to redirect me to the right one.

      How to reproduce issue?

      • Download jenkins 2.150.1 msi
      • Clean/Fresh default install of above msi in the default directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Jenkins"
      • Click Finish at the end
      • ISSUE:
        • "Access Error:404 -- Not Found" when trying to access localhost:8080

      Additional Observations (not part of the log)

      • When trying to run the jenkins.exe in the installation directory you get the error message:"error with starting Windows Service."
        • Jenkins Service appears to be stopped
      • Restarting the Jenkins Service from Task Manager directly stops again

      Circumstances

      I only get this issue on this specific pc with Windows 10. I do not get the issue on my Windows 7 SP1 laptops.
