Jenkins is a great product, but it is no longer the only one in the box, we use gitlab-ci on kubernetes with rancher2, all jobs are configured in gitlab-ci, but it has poor status presentation, it is horrendoulsy slow and very hard to navigate. So we use jenkins for presentation. We just send the finished job reports to jenkins via its rest-api and jenkins displays the report and status.

But this means the build button is useless, I've added an url in the jobsecription, but several times a week I get questions from people how to execute that job and job in jenkins do not start the job, because nobody navigates gitlab-ci to find statuses of jobs.

So what I suggest is a way to configure the build button and even disable it 8I know it can be disabled when you have not build rights, but this is not the same.

and also adding a url to its button.

      see enclosed jpg.

This is a feature that would greatly increase the interoperability of jenkins with other tools.
