openSUSE provides a free software build service: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSUSE_Build_Service
The openSUSE build service ("OBS") can be used for building software packages for many different distributions, on various different platforms: https://build.opensuse.org/
The build service is also accessible using a public API: https://api.opensuse.org/apidocs/
And also using command line tools: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:OSC
The "OBS" is also available as a free download for creating OBS slave nodes: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Appliance
It would be great if hudson could provide support for using the openSUSE build service for building software, so that nodes could dispatch their work to the openSUSE build service instead of building the sofware locally.
Maybe this could be implemented as a custom plugin/addon for hudson?
What do you guys think?
Michael
PS: There is already an eclipse addon for providing openSUSE build service support: http://lizards.opensuse.org/2008/08/13/accessing-the-build-service-from-eclipse/
